Proyecto Alimentario Nutricional Integral

About the program

This Program is a part of the Plan Nacional para el Buen Vivir y de Aliméntate Ecuador (until 2012), launched in 2009 and implemented by the Institute for Children and Families (INFA). The program delivers a nutritional supplement and educates families on anemia and malnutrition; it benefits children aged from 0 to 59 months who access services within the Integrated Child Development of MIES: Child Centers of Good Living (CIBV) and Growing with Our children (CNH) and intends to benefit 400,000 children nationwide.

Objectives
  1. Prevention and reduction of the prevalence of anemia and malnutrition in the target population.
  2. Improve the capabilities and potential of citizenship.
  3. Improve the quality of life of the population.
Components and/or products
  • Micronutrient supplements: distribution, consumption, acquisitions.
  • Training and development of integrated capabilities: model, training, citizen’s meetings.
  • Communication: strategy, design, communicational and educational materials, guides, murals, TV, local media.
  • Monitoring: baseline measurements, social impact assessment.
Target population

Children from the ages of 0-59 months who access services within the Integrated Child Development of MIES: Child Centers of Good Living (CIBV) and Growing with Our Children (CNH) attending 400,000 children nationwide.
