About the program

The “Gran Misión Hijas e Hijos de Venezuela” is a Program that provides financial aid of 430 bolivars (USD$68) per child for mothers whose monthly income is less than a minimum wage, equivalent to 1,548.22 bolivars (USD$245). In addition, families are registered within the program with the purpose of inserting its members in educational and productive activities as well as guaranteeing health care. The program is aimed at pregnant adolescents in poverty, pregnant women living in poverty, children under 17 who live in poverty, and people with disabilities with no age limit; those who care for citizens with special needs receive a contribution of 600 bolivars (USD$95).

Objectives

Objective

Eliminate extreme poverty through:

  • Direct financial transfers to families living in extreme poverty, for those whose income is less than the minimum wage and has as members pregnant women or teenagers and / or children under the age of 18 and/or disabled children of any age.
  • Improve access to education and health services and promote participation in cultural, sporting and community activities, etc.
  • Promote the development of economic activities in this sector of the population.
Components and/or products

Conditional cash transfer

It consists of a monthly CCT of VEF$430 (USD$68) for families with children under the age of 18 and of VEF$600 (USD$95) for families with disabled children of any age, and are conditional upon attendance to schools, in the case of children under 18 years of age and for mothers under 19, they are also conditions to the attendance to health centers, in the case of disabled children and pregnant women. Aid for a maximum of three children per family is granted.

The aid is not transferred in its entirety, since 10% of it goes towards the "Fund for Family Savings and Social Investment" of the “Gran Misión Hijas e Hijos de Venezuela”; this money is reserved for the financing of productive projects, special grants, home renovations, etc. Budgetary resources are allocated to this Fund.

Target population

The program is aimed at pregnant adolescents living in poverty, pregnant women living in poverty, children under the age of 18 who live in poverty, and people with disabilities regardless of age.
