About the program

The “Food Mission” is operational since April 2003. It is intended to make permanent marketing and commercialization of food and other essential products to wholesale and retail, maintaining quality and offering the lowest possible prices. This is done in order to keep the Venezuelan population supplied, especially low income population.

Objective

Perform ongoing marketing and commercialization of food and other essential products to wholesale and retail, maintaining quality and offering the lowest possible prices. The aforementioned is done in order to keep the Venezuelan population supplied, especially low income population, and subtracting dependence on the products that private companies commercialize in the country.

Components and/or products

Food supply

The program will make permanent marketing and commercialization of food and other essential products to wholesale and retail, at a subsidized price, while preserving quality and offering the lowest possible prices.

The aforementioned will be accomplished through:

  • Productos CASA (Supply Corporation and Agricultural Services), provides agricultural services, marketing and distribution of food and other products that complement the basic basket with raw materials, supplies and food production of domestic or international origin.
  • MERCAL CA (Food Market), executes marketing and commercialization through wholesale and retail of food and other essential products while maintaining quality, low prices and easy access. The family group is joined by small businesses and organized cooperatives.
  • PDVAL SA (Venezuelan Producer and Distributer of Food SA), offers the Venezuelan population products of the basic basket and basic supplies at regulated prices meeting the entire supply chain’s needs, including transport, storage, distribution and final sale.
  • FUNDAPROAL (Strategic Food Program Foundation) provides food to the most vulnerable sectors of the population through supply houses or "bags of Solidarity" in small warehouses and shops authorized for that purpose.
  • SADA (Warehouse Silos and Agricultural Storage), directs, controls and regulates storage policies for agricultural products and other related activities.
  • VENALCASA (Venezuelan Foods “La Casa”), participates in the country's food security through the provision of agricultural services, and marketing and distribution of foods and raw materials.
  • LOGICASA SA (Logistics House). Executes the proper and necessary activities for refrigeration and dry storage, packaging, distribution and transport of food products of domestic and foreign origin, in order to strengthen national food security.
