About the program

It is a program of the Ministry of Health that seeks to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable families in the country, mothers and children.

Objectives
  1. Deliver a nutritional supplement to children who attend pre-school, primary and multi-purpose centers.
  2. Increase the nutritional status of pregnant women and nursing mothers to increase the weight of children when and after they are born.
  3. Prevent the incidence of all forms of malnutrition in children up to 5 years old.
  4. Reduce as much as possible the incidence and prevalence of mild, moderate and severe malnutrition in pregnant women and nursing mothers and children at primary school ages.
  5. Provide support to poor and indigent families.
Components and/or products

Nutritional supplement

The program provides nutritional supplements to children who attend pre-school, primary and multi-purpose centers. Also to pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Target population
  1. Pregnant women and nursing teenage mothers and children who present signs of malnutrition and are unmarried, unemployed and have low incomes.
  2. Children from vulnerable mothers who show signs of malnutrition and poor concentration in school classes.
