Land for the Landless Programme

About the program

It is a government initiative whereby arable public and private land, leased or a loan is agreed so that farmers can have access to it. It seeks to increase agricultural production, create employment opportunities and enhance the contribution of agriculture to gross domestic product (GDP).The institution in charge of the program is The Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC).

Components and/or products

Access to arable land: Through the program, cultivable, public and private land, leased or a loan is agreed so that farmers can have access to it. Owners of arable land are asked to make the land available to the program.

Technical assistance and extension services: The program provides technical assistance in accounting; management processes for farms, agronomy, and soil conservation techniques, agro-processing and cooperative issues. It also offers services related to marketing.

Productive infrastructure: The program provides productive infrastructure for the establishment of farms.
