Programa Nacional de Alimentación Escolar Qali Warma
The National School Feeding Program, implemented in 2012 by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, is intended to provide food service quality, suited for local consumption habits, co-managed with the community, sustainable and healthy for children in initial levels of education from the ages of 3 and for primary levels of basic education in public educational institutions. The program operates throughout the national territory divided into eight food regions, each with a shared culinary identity, according to their geographical, social, cultural, economic and ecological characteristics.

Para el 2017 el Programa tiene como meta atender a más de 3.7 millones de niños y niñas de inicial y primaria de las escuelas públicas de todo el país, y de secundaria de las comunidades nativas de los pueblos Amazónicos.

It consists of the provision of resources for quality food services, adapted to local consumption habits and with appropriate nutritional content according to the age groups of the program's target population and the areas where they reside.
The program provides 2 servings (breakfast and lunch) to students attending schools in districts of greater poverty and one serving (breakfast) to students attending schools in districts with lower poverty.
The educational component of Qali Warma aims to promote better eating habits in children and their families, to accomplish the aforementioned it promotes capacity building through regional technical teams, members of the Purchase Committee and School Feeding Committee by providing technical assistance aimed at promoting efficient performance of the actors involved in the implementation of the service.
This component is implemented through technical assistance and educational tools.
Children from the ages of 3 that attend public educational institutions in the initial level of education or primary level of basic education.
The program operates throughout the national territory through public educational institutions, with special emphasis on areas with poverty and extreme poverty.

The program is funded by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, with resources from its institutional budget. Along with this, it can be funded with resources from non-reimbursable cooperation, national or international, in accordance with current regulations.
