About the program

The Universal Child Allowance for Social Protection is a monetary transfer which is payable on a monthly basis and established by National Decree No. 1602/09, it is intended for those children and adolescents under 18 years of age or disabled, residents of the Republic of Argentina, that do not have another family allowance and whose parents are unemployed, working in the informal market or in domestic service (earning no less than the minimum living wage - adjustable), or are social independent workers.

  • Assignment

The assignment entails the monthly payment of $644 pesos (USD 76) for children under the age of 18 years and $2100 pesos (USD 248) for kids with disabilities, without an age limit. 80% of the allocation is paid monthly through the National Administration for Social Security (ANSES) payment system; 20% is reserved in a savings account under the name of the holder in the Bank “Nación de la Argentina”, and is received through magnetic cards issued by the bank, without cost to the beneficiaries. The amounts can be charged once the mother/father/guardian/curator or relative card holder demonstrates, for minors under the age of five, the compliance of health checks and the vaccination plan; regarding school age minors, the certification attesting compliance with the relevant school cycle. This allowance is payable up to a maximum of 5 children, giving priority to disabled children and the younger age groups. If any of them do not comply with any of the requirements, the following children may obtain the allowance until the maximum is reached.

Target population

Children, adolescents or disabled residents in the Argentine Republic, which have no other family allowance provided for by the Decree 1602/2009 and that, belong to family groups who are unemployed or who are in the informal economy.

To access the Universal Child Allowance for Social Protection, the following is required:

  1. That the minor be Argentinean, son of an Argentinean native or naturalized by choice, or resident, with legal residence in the country for no less than 3 years prior to the application.
  2. To prove the identity of the titleholder of the benefit and the minor, through the National Identity Document.
  3. Verify the link between the person who will receive the benefit and the minor, through the presentation of the corresponding requirements and in adoption cases, relevant judicial testimonies regarding the guardians and guardianship.
  4. Disability status certification should be determined by the competent authority.
  5. Up to 4 years of age - including - proof of health checks and the mandatory vaccination plan must be provided. From the age of five and until the age of eighteen, the compulsory attendance to public educational must be demonstrated in addition.
  6. The titleholder of the benefit should submit an affidavit on the fulfillment of the requirements and to the qualities invoked; the loss of the benefit is caused if this data is proven false, despite any sanction that may be applicable.
