Plan Nacional de Soberanía y Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional
PLANAL responds to the vulnerability of about 40% of the country's population, the high prevalence rates of malnutrition, malnutrition and food based disease, the climate of insecurity in the country, homeless people and beggars which are a part of the indigenous population, 150,000 peasant farms with low economic return to family labor, thousands of families in the countryside and cities which are not guaranteed good during the year, and to the dispersion of efforts and public institutional and external cooperation resources promoting sustainable development and the achievement of the millennium development Objective (MDGs). The National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Security and Nutrition is a call of the Paraguayan Nation towards all inhabitants and cooperating entities, without exclusion of any kind, to make contributions to the national cause of having a State Policy that synthesizes the genuine aspiration of the Paraguayan State to achieve, by 2025, that all people living in Paraguay at all times have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs according to their preferences and cultural norms, in order to bring forward an active and healthy life. The Plan, while benefiting the entire population living in the country, considers indigenous peoples and urban and rural populations living in vulnerable conditions as the main target groups.
