National Strategy for Poverty Reduction

General information

It is the central strategy in fighting poverty. It contains actions to address poverty that is based on the inter-institutional coordination, as well as the use of a series of technical tools to streamline overcoming poverty efforts. Moreover, as attention to extreme poverty is a priority of the administration, Bridge towards Development includes a special component for priority and preferential care which is coordinated and targeted towards families that live in this condition.

The National Strategy for Poverty Reduction addresses poverty from a multi-sectoral and inter-institutional approach. It guarantees access to social protection system, capacity building, establishing a link between employment and entrepreneurship, the advantages of technology, decent housing and territorial development, mitigating inequality and respecting the approaches defined as strategic, for the sake of human development and social inclusion. The aim is to guarantee 54,600 families in extreme poverty access to programs, projects and social services in a preferential manner, coordinated and comprehensive in order to reduce extreme poverty.

Objectives

Objective

Address poverty from a multi sectoral and inter institutional approach, ensuring access the social protection system, capacity building, linking employment with entrepreneurship, benefitting from technologies’ advantages, decent housing and territorial development, mitigating inequality and respecting strategic approaches, in the interest of human development and social inclusion.

Specific objectives

  • Coordinate services from different institutional offerings from the social sector according to the demands and needs of families living in poverty.
  • Establish a unique measure  for  poverty of families participating in the Strategy by all the institutions involved, and the use of the tools defined for operationalization: SIPO, social maps, SINIRUBE and Multidimensional Poverty Index.
  • Establish a unified strategy for a monitoring and evaluation system in order to monitor the development actions that can impact the target population.

The population that lives in poverty and extreme poverty.
