The Cooperative Republic of Guyana, in its Political Constitution of 1980, makes an explicit recognition of the right to food, by noting in its third chapter "Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of the Individual", that "... any person in Guyana is entitled to a happy, creative, productive and hunger-free life ... ", establishing food as a fundamental right.
