The right to food in Ecuador

Ecuador recognizes the right to food in its Constitution since 2008, as an independent right applicable to all people. Article 13 states that individuals and communities have the right to safe and permanent access to healthy, sufficient and nutritious food; preferably locally produced and in accordance with their own different identities and cultural traditions. Similarly, Article 12 states that water is a fundamental and inalienable human right and is a strategic national asset for public use, inalienable, imprescriptible, and unable to be seized and essential for life.

It's the consolidation of the other three dimensions of food and nutrition security over time, ie "for everyone at all times." Thus, it considers the capacity to react to unforeseen political, economic and social crisis and natural disasters that may change the conditions of the other dimensions, creating risk and vulnerability.
